Kalmar shelter - large 5.0 m construction kit
We have many satisfied customers, including FDF in Glyngøre. After constructing a large squid shelter with a straight roof , we received the following from Frits Sørensen, which we have been given permission to share here on the website:
“This is just for your information.
So the shelter has been erected, roofing felt is finished today. A few comments on assembly instructions and the supplied building material:
- Some very fine building material (timber and planks)
- Correct and appropriate amount of everything
- Everything fit in the right lengths, but we just had to saw approx. 2 cm of a rafter spacer (no. 15)
- Good and well-described construction instructions and pictures
- Drawing 2: Perhaps indicate an approximate measurement of the distance from 'front to front plinth piece'. But write that the final placement of the front plinth is done on drawing 7.
- Drawing 22: Missing screw size for attaching triangular strips
- Drawing 26: Missing screw size for attaching deck board
If you perhaps want to do just a little extra for the customer who assembles and builds himself, I think it would be a good help if you label all the parts with a number on one end - i.e. the number that appears in the parts list and the assembly instructions. One way or another, you probably still have the parts list in connection with cutting and shortening, so just a number on the timber when the individual part is finished. I chose to complete this numbering before we started the work. We have used approx. 50 working hours, 2-3 men spread over 3 days.
Good weekend.

We thank Frits for the very detailed email, which has helped us in the design of later instructions for setting up the shelter.
